Workshops

There will be a number of workshops running throughout the day offering practical advice on Eco-Schools and other programmes and resources to support schools on their journey to become sustainable.

Workshops last for approximately 30 minutes and places must be booked in advance.

Places are restricted to four places per school one of which must be a teacher; this is to give as many schools as possible the opportunity to attend the workshops. Schools can attend more than one workshop.

Workshops have proven to be very popular at previous shows and places tend to get snapped up quickly so please book early to avoid disappointment.

If you have any queries about the workshops please contact us at eco-schoolsshow@keepbritaintidy.org

Room 3

"Outdoor Learning / Nature Deficit Disorder"

With recent studies suggesting that three quarters of children have never played 'tag' or 'hopscotch', 'Nature Deficit Disorder' is of increasing concern in the education sector.

Eco and Outdoor Classrooms can add a new dimension to schools and, by using sustainable and environmentally-friendly materials, can inspire and motivate pupils, as well as providing psychological benefits to ADHD sufferers through direct nature experiences.

In this workshop we discuss evidence that they are improving students' academic achievements and behaviour as well as the reported positive impacts on motivation, productivity, creativity and their understanding of environmental matters. We will share case studies of best practice and suggestions for future developments.
