Activity Zone

The Activity Zone is a chance for pupils to get stuck into a variety of fun eco activities.

Activities will last for approximately 20 minutes or less.

You don't have to book these sessions, just turn up on the day, but please make sure there is a teacher accompanying each group.

Area 2 - The Pod - EDF Energy's programme for greener schools

The Pod is an interactive website for teachers and Eco-Coordinators. It provides high quality cross curricular teaching resources, activities and games as well as a place to share ideas and showcase your work. Plus all Pod activities are accredited by Eco-Schools and can count towards your awards.

Watt can you power? Find out in the Pod's Activity Zone. Your students will be able to test their energy output on our generation bike and see what electrical items they can power. Will it be a 20w light bulb or a 700w television?

Area 4 - Love Where You Live (Morning)

Love Where You Live is Keep Britain Tidy's exciting campaign that aims to inspire, encourage and enable us all to make where we live, work and play the kind of place we really want it to be. It's about making a difference ourselves, whether as individuals, groups, schools, local authorities or companies.

Find out about our Summer of Love campaign and come and visit us in the Activity Zone and tell us why you love where you live and what you’ll do to look after and protect it. We’ll be taking your pledges and posting them on our wall and giving you the chance to win prizes.

If you love where you live, come and see us and tell us why.

Area 4 - How did you do that? (Afternoon)

Area 5 - Alien Invasion

What would intelligent friendly aliens think if they visited earth about how we humans were looking after our planet? Would they think we were doing well or badly? This area will be based on Sheffield's successful Alien Invasion Campaign and will give everyone a chance to imagine they are an intelligent alien and meet Gooshi Sheffield's very own alien. This will also be linked to a treasure hunt which will be ongoing through the show.

Area 6 - Eco-Graffiti Wall

The Eco-Graffiti wall activity will give everyone an opportunity to visualise a greener future by adding pictures, drawings and slogans. Schools are encouraged to develop their ideas in advance based around their own positive eco-activities and bring along their photographs and colourful drawings or simply draw and develop them on the day.
